Koeman’s Dutch Option?

Via Vital Football On

Ronald Koeman is once again being linked with the job as coach of the Dutch national side.

Koeman, on more than one occasion, has been in line for the top job and the former Holland international could finally take up this position – not that it means the under pressure Everton boss walking away at this point in time.

A failure to qualify for a second successive major tournament – missing Euro 2016 too – was confirmed this week when the Dutch failed to make it to the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia.

Despite his struggles with the Blues so far this season Dutch paper De Telegraaf has backed Koeman, assistant manager between 1997-1998, who is still very highly thought of in his homeland, to take on the job and guide the former European Championship winners – he was part of the side that won Euro 1988 – to greater success.

However, should Koeman take on this job it wouldn’t mean him leaving Everton now as current Dutch head coach Dick Advocaat is expected to remain in charge until the start of the Euro 2020 qualifiers, which get underway next year – the Blues’ boss could potentially be well into the final year of his contract, working on the assumption the Dutchman is still in charge anyway…
